A long outdoor growing project
These chaga dowel plugs are a starting material for inoculating suitable wood. They are not a ready-to-fruit kitchen kit and should be chosen for someone prepared to drill, insert, seal and then wait patiently.
UNGU chaga dowels are intended for a suitable healthy living birch, not for a cut log. Work only on a tree and land where you have permission.
What you need before starting
Prepare the correct wood, a clean 6 mm drill bit, a hammer, soy wax and a shaded place for the project. Do not begin until the whole sequence is ready, because drilled holes should be filled and sealed promptly.
How to insert the dowels
Drill holes approximately 6 mm wide and 30 mm deep. Leave about 10 cm within each row and about 5 cm between rows. Tap each dowel flush with the wood and seal the hole and its edges completely with melted soy wax.
Clean handling and storage
Wash and dry your hands before touching the dowels. If they will not be used immediately, keep the sealed pack refrigerated according to the product label; the LT source states storage of up to six months.
Who this makes sense for
Choose the smaller 200-piece format for a first limited project and 1,000 pieces for a larger planned inoculation. The recipient should already have suitable wood, tools and permission to work on the site.

How to open it properly?
Tear open the box lid where marked. Then, using a clean knife, cut an X-shape into the plastic packaging at the same spot. The block is ready to grow – keep it in the same position as in the box.
Care tips
Mist the block with clean water 2–3 times per day. Avoid direct sunlight, heat sources, and drafts – mushrooms prefer a cool, bright, and humid environment.
Storage tips
If you’re not ready to start growing yet, keep the kit in the fridge (+1 to +5 °C) for up to one month. Important: do not remove it from the bag and store it horizontally.
